Daddy-Daughter Dance “Illegal”

A classic case of “Political Correctness” wildly out of control. As it turns out Daddy-Daughter Dances and Mom-Son events have violated gender discrimination laws. And the ACLU is to thank for making it an issue. They filed a complaint on behalf of a single Mom who had no father in her life and thus could not attend the school dance. Good news….this could only happen in the State of Rhode Island or other states with similar statutes on the books. Thank goodness federal gender discrimination laws exempt such events from the statutes. A Rhode Island schools superintendent has ended the district’s father-daughter dances and mother-son ballgames to comply with a state gender discrimination law. Good grief. When my kids asked me to DJ the school dance I said yes! Your site and all the info on trends and what not to play saved me. The kids had fun, the adults had fun and so did I.
