BBC Banned Disco Queen dies

Donna Summer died today. Just 63. A long battle with cancer ended a life too early. For those old enough to remember she caused a big stir with her lyrics in the 70′s. Tame by todays standards. Can you imagine “Love to Love you Baby” was banned by the BBC and many stations around the country and even she refused to sing it on stage after becoming a born again Christian in 1979.

Now we can only chuckle knowing that songs with the F-bomb in the title of the song, and b**ch, hoe, nig*a, and more are embedded in the lyrics of most rap songs.

It’s tough to see a true icon of the disco era pass. Also tough to see the innocence of the disco era pass.

You know that Freak Dancing (Grinding) has gone mainstream, when “street performers” capitalize on it with nasty dancing string puppets. This is enough to make Pinocchio turn red.

TOP 30 Safe Songs (May 15)

Thanks to Daryl Thomas at 1-800-DISC JOCKEY who had several great ideas to help improve the School Dance Network service, we have added a new column in our TOP 30 safe song list. From now on, when we add songs to the list we will identify them as being appropriate only for High School aged kids (not middle schoolers). As you know some songs are safe enough for High School aged kids, but simply are over the top for younger students. Keep in mind when they are cleared for High Schools it is only if the song has a clean radio edit, not necessarily in its original form. This week’s adds include “Leave You alone” by Young Jeezy…and that has been cleared for High schoolers only.

	Rihanna	Talk that Talk	The Album of the same name was released in November and her number one hit “We Found Love” and “You Da One” both were cleared for school play. This one is not. Steamy, and nasty. Put the big ‘X’ on it.
	Loverance	UP!	Anyone hanging out with 50Cent (Featured on this song) is gonna be naughty. This is about as bad as it get.
	Tyga	Rack City	Always interesting to see how the Rap thugs in the industry can warp their lyrics to be even more depraved than the last guy’s disgusting lyrics. So this song references sex with your grandma and lowers the bar once again and that’s just a small part of why you should steer clear of this.
	Big Sean	Dance (A**)	I tried counting the number of times Big Sean sang the word A and Mher F**ker in this song, but lost count after 30 and 15 respectively. I can’t help but think it is point of pride for him to brag to his rap buddies…” Do you know how many times I sang blah blah.” I can’t otherwise grasp the point of doing it. Sad thing this is the #3 song in the nation on Rhythmic Top 40 stations.
	Dev	In the Dark	The blatant and repeated “ I gotta sex drive to push the start” Will drive the Principal mad. Better pass.
	Will. I. am	T.H.E- (The hardest ever)	What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this song? Yup. That’s what it is all about. Nothing much hidden here.
	Ass Back Home	Gym Class Heros	There is a version of this song with the A** clipped out…but what’s the sense of it…the song’s title includes ASS. Whether you play it or not, the kids will request and sing it….the A word is prominent.
	The Motto	Drake	The F bomb jumps out in the first three words of the song, the B word in the second sentence, more F words throughout than I cared to count, a couple of N words and this is Drake rubbish.
	Beyonce	Party	The cleaned up version eliminates the f bomb and other objectionable words….but the innuendo leaves almost nothing to the imagination. This song is pretty nasty.
	Taio Cruz w/ Flo Rida	Hangover	As the title suggests. A drinking song. Clearly promotes getting trashed.
	Wiz Khalifa-Snoop Dog	Young, Wild and Free	The chorus and first two lines: So what we get drunk , So what we smoke weed
	Britney Spears	Criminal	Glorifying guns and killing.
	B.O.B w/ Lil Wayne	Strange Clouds	Strange Clouds has nothing to do with the forecast. The strange clouds in this song are the ones formed by smoking pot…this is an anthem to getting wasted.
	Meek Mill	Ima Boss	Rick Ross…Known nasty rap guy is the featured artist. Makes sense that this song is like most of the rest of the Gansta rap stuff he’s known for. Laced with most nasty words you can think of. Avoid this garbage at schools.
	Big Sean	Dance (A$$)	Even cleaned up with edits this one talks about grinding and butts. Best to leave this one at home.
	Taio Cruise	Hangover	Stand clear of this song. It is all about drinking, getting drunk and the residuals of being drunk.
	Foster the People	Pumped up Kicks	Search out the clean version with no guns, no bullets and no violence and this one is safe to play. Otherwise better avoid it at schools.
	Rick Ross	I Love My Bi**hes	Rick Ross almost never produces a decent school friendly song. When you see a Rick Ross song…beware!
	T-Pain	5 O‘clock	Clearly describes a 5am sexual encounter.

Mom seeks daughter’s prom date on Craigslist

Prom Picture- Prom date costs average family between $700 and $1900

Prom 2012 = $700-$1900 not counting hiring a prom date.

Okay….this is either a joke, or totally nuts! And it doesn’t appear to be a joke. Scary.

Take a look at the Craigslist post and you decide:

My daughter and her friends attend a small private school in Seattle. The Senior Prom is June 2nd. My husband and I are looking to hire four prom dates for my daughter and her three friends. All the gals are very good looking, trim, friendly, and fun. We can trade photos. The time commitment would be seven hours..5pm to midnight paid at $50 per hour. If you are taller than 6feet, good looking, fit and outgoing, please send your photo to me as soon as possible. You will be required to interview, if selected, you will also need to meet for a one hour strategy session and tux fitting in advance of prom night. All expenses will be paid by us, tux rental, pre-party at down town high rise condo, limo, Senior dinner, and prom. To be clear..all expenses paid, no compensation for interview or tux fitting, $350 for seven hours on Prom night.

A “Twist” to the grinding problem at this years prom

Even small towns (1200) in the heart of the midwest are looking for ways to put an end to grinding at this years prom. Yes, even there. The internet has a way of bringing the big city problems to rural America. Krackow school in the outback of Missouri has come up with some alternatives that are meeting with luke warm acceptance by their students.

Parents reflecting back on their teen years remember the only form of inappropriate touching was a game called TWISTER. The school’s Assistant Principal, Morris Byrum reflects back: “When I was a sophomore, Kevin Hurley turned me on to Twister.” “Kevin was the unofficial make-out king of Krackow Consolidated Regional High School, and he said Twister was better than French kissing and feeling girls up.”

Soooo. “We’re going to have the world’s largest Twister mat at this year’s prom,” says Byrum. “And those kids are gonna learn just how much fun it was growing up in the ’60′s.”

Juniors and seniors are somewhat skeptical, but say they are willing to give their parents’ preferred mode of public sexual contact a try. “I suppose if I have to I will,” says Naomi Miller, who was Homecoming Queen and president of the River Rats Pep Squad. “But I’m going to keep my distance from Lyle Salloway,” a boy who is known for his chronic flatulence.

For those who choose not to play Twister or get anywhere near Lyle Salloway…the school will have an alternative twist, there will be a Twist Contest featuring the dance craze made famous by Chubby Checker, and supervised slow dancing that will be subject to the traditional “six-inch ruler” test.

“Couples must maintain six inches of space between their bodies, as measured by certified rulers provided by Donahue Insurance Agency to dance monitors,” says Byrum. “Violators will be ejected from the dance and escorted to their cars where they can skip the charade and go straight to the real thing.”
